GUNS | SPECNA ARMS SA-B12!

Hey friends!

Welcome back to the blog! For the first review of March I’m looking at the Specna Arms SA-B12 AEG from Gunfire

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you’ll know I’ve reviewed a few guns from the Specna Arms range of AEGs and the SA-B12 is another M4 replica in this affordable line of AEGs. This model, like many of the others in the SA range is made mostly from a zinc/aluminium alloy and reinforced with steel parts which includes all the screws, pins and sling swivels! The most notable outward feature of the SA-B12 is the 8”, modular, keymod handguard. The handguard has a 22mm top RIS rail for sights etc (there’s a set of Ironsights included in the box), a polymer pistol grip and an adjustable stock with an anti-slip texture on the stock butt that houses the battery. It also has a standard flash hider that is mounted on a 14mm, left-hand thread. The body has been anodised and powder coated which gives this AEG more corrosion and abrasion resistance. The body has USMC markings in white which add to the look of the replica. In my review images I'm using a PTS EPM1 but there is a steel magazine included in the box that has complimentary markings to the body.

As for internals, the gearbox is reinforced with a steel mainspring guide on the cylinder head which is the element of the Enter & Convert system. There is a type 2 cylinder and a steel breaker and a metal hop-up chamber. The upgraded version is also equipped with some new, improved internal parts including a set of reinforced steel gears, a steel spring guide, lightweight, polymer piston, aluminium, sealed piston head and metal cylinder head. The Enter & Convert system allows the user to rapidly change the spring to upgrade or downgrade the FPS without the need for any specialist tools or equipment.

The SA-B12 is fully compatible with LiPo/LiFe and also Lithium iOn batteries, I did need to have it downgraded by the team at Gunfire before shipping, as the stock spring chrono’s around 410 FPS which is too hot for UK airsoft sites. There is an M90 spring included in the box, which allows the FPS to be lowered to around 310 FPS.

How is it to use? It has a good weight to it, but it isn’t too heavy which makes it feel sturdy. There’s no wobble and overall it does feel very durable. I think the aesthetics are good for the price, however, the only thing I didn’t particularly like about the SA-B12 was the stock it came with out of the box as it felt a little low end, however, it is comfortable to shoulder and given the price point of the AEG, it is understandable. Although we can’t play at the moment due to the national lockdown in England I did take it on a shooting course to get a feel for it. It’s a nice size to move around a tight CQB site, isn’t too heavy and shot consistently on both semi and full-auto firing modes.

At the moment it’s out of stock on the Gunfire website however it retails for €239,30 which is (at the time of writing) £207.55 which is a great budget-friendly price point!

SPECNA ARMS EDGE FROM GUNFIRE.COM

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Today I have another review for you in partnership with gunfire.com and we’re going to be looking at a new AEG carbine within the Specna Arms brand: the Edge series! This new AEG has been manufactured under the license of Rock River Arms. Rock River Arms is a well known American firearms manufacturer and it is equipped with GATE technology.

First, let’s chat about the features of the Edge models! The SA Edge has an Orion Gearbox, which is based on a reinforced shell and is equipped with a mainspring release function. Out of the box it has a reinforced piston with full steel teeth, an Aluminium seal nozzle & double sealed cylinder head, steel gears, 8mm ball bearings, a rotary hop-up chamber, a 6.03mm precision barrel, a quick change spring system (which means you can quickly change the spring in the system to adjust the FPS without the use of any specialised tools) and a QD pistol grip which gives the player quick access to the AEG’s engine without the use of tools. All these features make this one of the best Specna's yet - durable and ready to get to work.

One of the Edge’s most notable features is the GATE X-ASR MOSFET as standard! The MOSFET X-ASR unit will ensure the safety of the components, increase the trigger response and extend the life of the electronics and battery.

The aesthetics of the Edge are that of a classic M4 Carbine in a black/tan colourway. The only things I don’t like about the aesthetics of the Edge model is the fixed front sight and carry handle - but these are purely aesthetic and can be changed, I swapped my carry handle for a flip to zoom and a red dot sight. I really like the Rock River Arms trademarks on the body and think it adds a nice touch of authenticity to the rifle.

So the aesthetics are cool, but how does it shoot? I totally didn’t expect the GATE logo on the box when I took it out of the outer box so seeing that it had a GATE MOSFET as standard, I had really high hopes for it! I decided to take the Edge to my local woodland airsoft site to see how it ran. GF very kindly downgraded my Edge to below 350 FPS (322 FPS to be exact), which a player could easily do themselves thanks to the quick change spring system! On semi, the trigger response is pretty snappy, it feeds well and is generally satisfying to use. On full auto, I had a lot of fun! Using it during the course of the day it was a fun AEG to use, it has a nice weight to it and functions well. The price is still to be released however I have a feeling it will still be affordable, but a little more pricey than the other Specna models because of the internals. This particular AEG would be a great choice for a player who wants a gun that has excellent internals straight out of the box.

Another nice touch, is in the box there is a front grip and 2 x 125 BB Mid-cap magazines that have a stippled effect on them - meaning the gun can be accessorised and ran straight out of the box.

SPECNA ARMS SA-C09 CORE FROM GUNFIRE.PL REVIEW!

Hey everyone!
Welcome to the blog. Today I have another review for you in partnership with Gunfire.pl and this time we’ll be looking at another AEG from the Specna Arms Core range – the SA-C09!

Let’s get straight in with all the deets! What makes the Core range of rifles from Specna Arms so affordable and lightweight is the use of nylon fiber reinforced polymer throughout the build - in this model in particular the receiver (which has markings and a serial number on it), stock slide, stock and the pistol grip are all made of this polymer. The RIS handguard, flash hider, barrel, charging handle and sling swivels are all made of metal. There are of course some steel parts in the build including the shell ejection window and mock bolt carrier.

What about the internals? Well, SA-C09’s gearbox has 8 mm slide bearings and shimmed steel gears based on them. The system has four anti-reversal latches, which is combined with a polycarbonate polymer piston with a full steel strip, to increase its durability, minimise wear on the gearbox and to keep the build lightweight. It has a rotary style Hop-Up that perfectly fits with a high quality 6.03 precision barrel meaning the hop-up is easy to change and the precision barrel has a positive effect on the range. The replica is also fully compatible with both LiPo and LiFe batteries.

The SA-C09 features a CORE™ Quick Spring Exchange System. What’s great about this is that the FPS is able to be quickly upgraded or downgraded without access to a workshop or special tools - all that is needed is to remove the stock slide to gain access to the spring. Out of the box, it had a muzzle velocity of 380 FPS which was confirmed with a document from Gunfire. Included in the box is an M90 spring, which allows you to reduce the FPS to around 310 FPS meaning it will comply with UK site limits. Although the spring is easy to change, if you don’t fancy changing it yourself the GF website does offer a downgrading service.
What is it equipped with? It has a 22 mm top RIS rail, RIS handguard and an adjustable 6 point stock with an anti-slip pad stock which can be adjusted to the player's needs - the anti-slip pad makes it comfortable to shoulder. The top RIS rail has a flip-up rear sight that doesn’t get in the way of RD sights. There is also a standard flash hider with a 14 mm left-handed thread, which allows the attachment of a silencer instead.

What I really like about the SA-C09 is that it’s really lightweight thanks to its reinforced polymer construction, there’s no wobble so it feels really sturdy and the metal components only add to this. Overall, the aesthetics are good for the price, however, the only thing I didn’t particularly like about the SA-C09 was the stock it came with out of the box as it felt a little low end, but given the price of the AEG overall it is understandable.
I ran it for a couple of CQB game days to run it through its paces and I found the Hop-Up easy to adjust, the range was impressive for such low price gun and it ran flawlessly all day - there were no jams, misfeeds or anything that would put me off using it again. I Think for the price, Specna Arms have done a great job with the SA-C09 CORE, it’s definitely an AEG that would suit a beginner player for their first gun or a more experienced player as a base of a cool build project. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed using it!

*At the time of publication, the SA-C09 was out of stock. Price will be added at a later date.

SPECNA ARMS SA-C09 SET-UP! SPECNA ARMS | VORTEX | OLIGHT | PTS SYNDICATE!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Today I'm back with another gun set-up and this time it's on my next review product - the Specna Arms SA-C09 CORE from Gunfire.pl

BEFORE

This is the SA-C09 CORE model on its first outing at Strikeforce CQB - before I started changing anything on the rifle I decided to leave her completely stock for a few games (except using my trusty PTS EPM x MAGPOD).

AFTER

Once I played a couple of games with her in her stock furniture with no attachments I decided to tart her up a little with some goodies from PTS, Vortex and Olight!

The first thing I did was remove the stock iron sights and install the PTS EBUIS (Enhanced Back-Up Iron Sights) for the rear site and the PTS Unity Tactical FUSION Mounting System with BUIS attachment.

As I was playing indoors with some dark areas I utilised my new Olight M20SX Javelot kit, this torch has an output of 820 lumens so is a great addition! You can check out my full review here.

As I no longer use Hi-Caps I chose to forego the magazine that came with the rifle and opted for my PTS EPM x MAGPOD, all the same goodness of the orginal Enhanced Polymer Magazines but it has a moulded magpod that acts as a monopod for stability!

For this set-up I wanted it to look as realistic as possible so I chose to keep the colours muted and utilise my Vortex SPARC AR, I am a big fan of this sight for sooo many reasons - check them out here.

To give me a little more room for batteries and a comfier shoulder/cheek weld, I utilised the PTS EPS (Enhanced Polymer Stock)!

Keep an eye out for my review on the SA-C09 from Gunfire.pl which will be live on the blog next week!

SPECNA ARMS SA-C04 CORE CARBINE REVIEW!

Hey everyone!

So I’m back with another review, and this time it’s a review for Gunfire.pl! Today we’re going to be looking at one of the new CORE™ AEGs from Specna Arms - the SA - C04. The CORE™ range of replicas have been designed to be tough, lightweight and more affordable for both beginners and seasoned airsoft players alike.

For the new CORE™ range, Specna Arms decided to use more polymer in their construction to make them not only lighter but also more affordable. So let’s breakdown what’s what! The receiver, stock slide, stock and the pistol grip are all made from a super tough fiber-glass reinforced polymer. Whilst the barrel, RIS handguard, flash hider, enlarged charging handle and sling points are all made of metal. As well as other parts including the screws, pins, shell ejection window and mock bolt carrier.

As for aesthetics, it has a classic M4 look and features a 22 mm top RIS rail, a RIS handguard and an adjustable stock with a textured butt pad. The top rail has a flip-up rear sight and a fixed front sight.  It has a standard flash hider that has a 14 mm left-handed thread. The receiver also bears some pretty cool markings and a serial number.

What about the internals? The gearbox contains 8 mm slide bearings and shimmed steel gears. The system has four anti-reversal latches.  It also features a piston made of polycarbonate polymer that it is equipped with a full steel strip, a type 1 cylinder and a steel circuit-breaker and a precise rotary Hop-Up chamber which makes changing the hopup really easy. The replica also features the CORE™ quick change spring system which enables you to quickly change the power of the gun by swapping out the spring without any special tools – the spring can be changed by removing the stock slide, and then using a long screw driver. Out of the box, I chrono’d the replica at 378 FPS, which is around our legal limit and definitely higher than the 350 FPS site limits but Specna Arms provide an M90 spring in the box, and installing this reduces the muzzle velocity to  around 310 FPS. I rechrono’d at 308 FPS. It is fully compatible with LiPo and LiFe batteries, one of which comes in the box so it’s ready to go.

How does it feel/perform on the field? Well, it certainly feels sturdy and the build quality is solid. It has a snappy fire selector and a good trigger response. On semi-auto it was consistent and the range was good. Full auto was pretty fun, and it had a good grouping.

In the box you get: the SA Core replica, a 300 round high cap magazine, RIS rail covers, tactical forward grip, an additional main spring, battery & charger.

The whole package retails for €133,25 which at the current exchange rate is around £118.65. I’m really impressed with the price point of this model as it’s really affordable, and great value especially considering the extras you get in the box including the battery, charger and foregrip. It’s the complete package which is especially handy for new players and not to mention tough. I am really pleasantly surprised with this model in the Specna Arms CORE™ range.
