SET-UP | MULTICAM RUSH 2.0 CARRIER SET-UP!

Welcome back to the blog! Today we'll be looking at my latest MultiCam plate carrier set-up!

For the base, I'm using the 'Rush 2.0 Plate Carrier Tactical Vest' by Primal Gear from Gunfire.com. The Rush 2.0 Plate Carrier is designed to be a light and durable utilitarian piece of kit for airsofters. It's constructed from Cordura 500D which is more than enough for battle on the airsoft field. The vest is able to carry M SAPI ballistic inserts, as this is for airsoft, I'm using FMA SAPI M Ballistic Plate Replica (also from Gunfire) which gives me more protection and keeps the shape of the carrier. The front and back vest panels, as well as the detachable cummerbund, are covered with MOLLE / PALS webbing that allows you to expand the carrying capacity of the vest with various pouches. On the back there is a zipper so you can attach dedicated Rush 2.0 panels and backpacks (more on that later!)

Other features of the carrier include: a drag handle, concealed tabs for the attachment of panels and placards, a flat pocket with an organiser on the chest, padded shoulders for added comfort and large loop velcro space at the front of the carrier for patches! My full review on this plate carrier is coming soon so keep your eyes peeled!

For the front panel I have the OneTigris Placard 01 (OneTigris Chest Rig/Vest Add-on Triple Mag Pouch with Utility Pouch) in MultiCam! The Placard 01 has the capacity to carry three 5.56 magazines (however I did manage to fit some AK mags in as well!) and 2 pistol mags. The 5.56 pouches have adjustable shock cord retainers plus webbing pull tabs to keep the mags secure even when you're prone and the pistol mag pouches have velcro flaps to keep them secure. It also features a utility pouch at the front with an adjustable hook-and-loop divider inside so it can be customised to the users spec. I secured this to my Rush 2.0 carrier via the hook velcro at the back and the buckles at the top of the panel.

For the back panel, I'm using the Tactical Backpack for Rush 2.0 Tactical Vest from Primal Gear also from Gunfire.com. Now, hear me out! This backpack is quite large but, it has a lot of space and in turn a large carrying capacity which is fab for longer ops or when you play sites that run longer than average games. It is a dedicated backpack for Rush 2.0 Plate and it zips onto the back of the vest - super simple. This backpack enables the end user to carry additional equipment including extra ammo or a hydration bladder for hydration on the field. It has a vertical zipper giving you quick access to contents of the backpack, additional mesh pockets inside the main compartment to keep everything organised and separate, a flap with a pocket to keep small accessories accessories safe and a grommet at the bottom for drainage.

GEAR | ONETIGRIS GRIFFIN AFPC!

Welcome back to the blog! Today I have another review for you, and today we're looking at the GRIFFIN AFPC from OneTigris

After using the OneTigris collection of face protection over the last couple of years and being impressed with the comfort and quality, I started to wonder about the rest of their gear collection and how it compares. This is where the GRIFFIN AFPC Airsoft Vest comes in!

The GRIFFIN is one of the signature vests from OneTigris that is made from durable 500D Cordura and UTX buckles giving it dirt/water/abrasion resistance making it a perfect choice for airsoft. It offers quick-release, reinforced and padded shoulder strap functionality, detachable breathability padding, and it can also be used with chest rigs via the removable front MOLLE flap with 1” buckles. It weighs in at just 1.3kg making it a super lightweight piece of gear. It also has a 6.5” wide cummerbund to protect your sides and these have hidden hook and loop utility pockets.

There are four pieces of detachable breathability padding in the GRIFFIN for good airflow during gameplay. The design is completely adjustable to fit players of different sizes with adjustable shoulder straps (12”-17”) and adjustable upper waist sizes from 36” to 48”. It has 360 degrees MOLLE for all pouches etc. The GRIFFIN also has a 10” by 12” EVA plate included in the package. Another feature is that it has 3” by 6” patch panels at the front and back for airsofters beloved patches (it also comes with an OTG red PVC patch too!)

The GRIFFIN is easy to adjust so it didn’t take long to get it skirmish ready, once fully adjusted it does fit well. On the first use I did find the foam plates to be a little stiff and bulky but the more I’ve used the vest, the more they have softened with the heat of my body during play. I’ve found this with a lot of tactical vests and plate carriers that come with foam plates. One positive for the foam plates is that any hits to the carrier sound super distinct meaning its easier to hear when you’ve been shot if you didn’t feel it. The all-round MOLLE means it is a super versatile piece of kit and has plenty of room for any pouches needed. As I ran this with my belt kit, I just accessorised mine with a triple mag pouch. It is worth noting that if you have the VULTURE chest rig and TREX pack, it is also compatible with these!

One of the issues I found with my GRIFFIN AFPC, is that the front flap’s MultiCam pattern didn’t sit right with the rest of the pattern on the vest - almost as if it had been flipped. This, I suspect is because OTG is utilising all the fabric they possibly can for each vest - which makes sense as MC fabric is expensive. As the flap is detachable or covered with pouches its more of a non-issue. I’ve fed this back to OTG and they are aware of this.

At the moment, the GRIFFIN AFPC is only available in MultiCam. Which is a bit limiting in terms of loadout potential so I would love to see this vest in other colourways such as MultiCam Black, MultiCam Tropic and Ranger Green. Offering this plate carrier in more colourways would definitely make it more appealing to airsofters. It retails for $121.99 which is around £97 at the current exchange rate (be aware this could have changed by the time this has gone to print). The price is on par with other brands of the same quality.

Overall, I think 1TG have done a really great job with the GRIFFIN plate carrier - despite the design flaw in the removable flap, but like I said it is removable and you can cover it with pouches so it isn’t a big issue. The size allows for adjustment so it is inclusive, it is versatile and can be used with other 1TG products such as the VULTURE (it could also possibly be used with other brands but I’ve not had the chance to try it yet). It is also lightweight and comfortable without sacrificing quality. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this come out in other colours too! Keep up the great work 1TG!

WOMEN'S AIRSOFT KIT FEATURE - PROTECTIVE GEAR!

Over my time in airsoft, it’s been no secret that I’ve struggled to find kit that fits and works for both my body shape and height - weighing in at 57kg and measuring just 5”3 I’m an airsofter of small stature, meaning often the smallest sizes aren’t small enough but along the way I’ve found brands/product that work for me so I’ve put together a kit list of my go-to protective gear suitable for women and younger players.

FACE PRO

Kicking off this kit feature is face pro! As women’s faces are smaller than mens, the regular mesh/fabric half face masks tend to be a little too long from the tip of the nose on the mask to the end of the chin but, one company has developed a half mesh/fabric face mask based on the feedback of their female customers to create the first specific women’s half face mask for airsoft: The One Tigris Women’s 4.5inch Mesh Mask!

Based on the feedback of their female customer’s, One Tigris have taken their 6” tactical foldable half face mask and cut 1.5 inches off the bottom mesh and shortened the chin fabric of the 2 sides, meaning it fits smaller faces much more comfortably. It fits securely on the head/face thanks to the adjustable straps and the padded sides make it comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. It’s lightweight and the mesh provides enough ventilation for there not to be any issues with fogging.

The 4.5 inch mesh mask by One Tigris retails for £16.98 on Amazon and comes in a range of colours including: black, black MutliCam, tan, ranger green and MultiCam.

GLOVES

Next up in my kit feature is gloves - this has always been a tough one for me as I have really dainty hands but I’ve found two pairs that I keep coming back to!

Enola Gaye FUG Glove

The EG FUG (Field Utility Glove) is a glove made for paintball, airsoft and outdoor activities from Enola Gaye that is touchscreen compatible, comes in a range of 6 colours including black, grey, camo, tan, digicam and olive drab and has a cute little pistol/sight graphics on the first two fingers as a cheeky FU design feature. 

They come in a range of sizes from XS-XL and what’s really cool is that the XS size has been sized to my own hand and whilst they are a little roomy around the back of the hand they fit my fingers and wrist well. They retail for £19.99 and are available from the EG website and EG retailers! They’re a great budget pair of gloves for airsofters that need a smaller glove.

PIG FULL DEXTERITY TACTICAL (FDT) - Delta Utility Glove

The PIG full dexterity tactical (FDT) Delta Utility glove is my absolute go to! It’s a slip-on tactical glove that although small and a seemingly ordinary pair of gloves boast a bunch of awesome features including: touchscreen compatible forefinger and thumb, single-layer palm for tactile sensitivity, bar-tacked paracord pull loops and they even have a silicon printed grip on the palm for extra grip making them practical and usable for not only airsoft but for other outdoor activities.

The fold-over finger construction and elastic wrist for quick put on and take off sequence not only make them more comfortable for the user but it also gives them a sleeker, more sophisticated look - nothing like the purpose made airsoft gloves we usually see on the field. They aren't padded or extra thick around the knuckles so getting shot in the hands whilst wearing these does still suck, but honestly? Finger shots are quite rare and I'd rather have the dexterity than bulky protection. They're easy to put on, quick drying after they've gotten wet and the touchscreen compatible finger and thumb is super useful! Overall, I'm super impressed with them.

PLATE CARRIER

LBX Small Modular Plate Carrier 0300S

The ‘Small Modular Plate Carrier’ from LBX, or the 0300S is the compact model of LBX’s popular Modular Plate Carrier. The carrier has 360 modular webbing, on the front panel, back panel, and cummerbund so players can customise their carrier on all sides. The top rows of webbing on the front panel also have hook Velcro so you can show off your favourite patches.

The carrier can take 8 x 10 plates if the operator chooses to and It features a heavy-duty drag handle which is probably more applicable in real-world application than airsoft but its there if you need to quickly drag your mates out of a firefight. It also has hydration/comms guides on the front and rear panels to keep hydration system and communication systems organised and of course to prevent any loose cables being snagged during use – after all, no one likes catching their lines on door handles!

The 0300S is fully adjustable - the cummerbund is adjustable up to 46", and as my waist is 29” it fits snuggly but can still be adjusted to give me room to wear the carrier over a softshell in the winter. As the cummerbund also has Velcro closure it can be securely fastened. The carrier has adjustable shoulder straps which means the operator can adjust where it sits on the torso. Both shoulder straps have padded strap coverings which makes them comfortable to wear for long periods of time even when the carrier is loaded up. I’ve found very few plate carriers that can comfortably fit my small frame and contour my waist and chest but the 0300S does the job. As I’ve said, the cummerbund fits my waist pretty snug but still leaves me enough room to be worn over a light jacket or hoodie. The overall size looks/feels right on my torso and fits the contours of my body.

The LBX 0300S comes in MAS Grey, MultiCam, Coyote, Black and Wolf Grey. On the LBX website, it is available for $159.95, which works out at £114 to across the pond.

BATTLE BELT

FRV Tailoring Cobra Shooters Belt

The Cobra Shooters Belt from FRV Tailoring is a low profile, lightweight and affordable load bearing system. It has an inner belt made of one layer of webbing with velcro hook on the outside, you place the outer belt with all your pouches, holsters etc attached over the inner belt and fasten it with the cobra buckle.

The belt is 50mm/2" in width with 18 columns of molle. The molle loops run along the top and bottom of the outer belt and they're compatible with any molle or pal attachable pouches and holsters. The outer belt has a double layer of webbing to give it that rigidity and it has a cobra buckle that is rated up to 4000 lb’s. The belt has plenty of room for all my kit and isn't weighed down by it. The pouches are really secure and don't bounce up and down too much! The best bit about this belt is that it can stay set-up for future use!

The FRV cobra shooters belt is lighter, thinner than most belts I’ve tried and because of this it sits on my hips firmly but doesn't rub. It's comfortable to wear even during long ops such as Tora Bora Raid! The belts are sized to the users waist size. Although I have a 28" waist it is more comfortable for me to wear belts on my hips so I opted for the 30.

What's the cost? The belt retails at £69.99 from FRV Tailoring which is super affordable compared to similar belts on the market, giving airsofters that high end look and handmade quality for less!

BOOTS

PENTAGON ACHILLES 6” TREKKING BOOTS COYOTE

The Pentagon Achilles Trekking 6” boots are my go-to airsoft boots!

These were brand new to Military 1st in 2017 and they’ve stood the test of time! They are a coyote suede leather, ankle length boot that comes with features including a Dintex waterproof and breathable membrane lining to keep your feet nice and dry during ops and an Ortholite sole which makes them comfy to wear for extended periods of time. 

I usually wear a 4.5 shoe so chose a size 5.to give me a little extra space for thick socks during the winter months. The boots are really comfortable across the toes, instep and don’t rub against my heels. The top of the boot sits just above my ankle so I’m pretty happy with the ankle support they give and they have a pretty decent sole on them as well. I’ve worn these around the world from CQB games in the UK to wet, MilSims in the US and they’ve held up well. They aren’t completely waterproof so I wear a pair of seal socks on wet game days to keep my feet warm and dry.s

FLYYE FAST ATTACK PLATE CARRIER FROM MILITARY 1ST!

I have another review for you, as most of you will know from reading the recent posts on the blog I've teamed up with Military 1st to bring you guys a short series of affordable plate carrier set ups for both tan and green team uniforms and today we are going to look at/review the base plate carrier for the second build in the series, the Flyye Industries Fast Attack Plate Carrier in olive drab!

The Fast Attack Plate Carrier from Flyye Industries is a lightweight plate carrier that is designed to offer the operator great mobility and also a good level of load carrying capacity. Although it looks like a pretty simple PC, it has a bunch of great features - the most notable of which being that both the front and back of the plate carrier are completely covered from top to bottom with MOLLE webbing straps for attaching a whole range of MOLLE pouches, panels and packs. It also has strips of Velcro along the lower half of the front of the carrier which could be used to attach Velcro pouch panels. As you can see from the images, there is SO much carrying space on the plate carrier, which is pretty awesome.

As the name suggests, the plate carrier is all about getting the job done quickly and efficiently - along with the Velcro strips for quick pouch panel attachments, the adjustable padded shoulder straps and quick release buckles allow for quick adjustments and modifications to size. There is also 1/4" thick closed cell foam in both the shoulders and also in the upper torso parts to help alleviate load stress on the operators back and shoulders. One thing that has really impressed me with the Fast Attack Plate Carrier is just how lightweight it is! The Plate Carrier weighs in at just 850g including the soft armour plates. This would make it a great option as part of a MilSim, battlesim or a weekender game loadout. We all know the aches and pains that inevitably comes with wearing a plate carrier for extended periods of time, and having something that weighs so little as the basis of a loadout will help in minimising this.

The vest is made of durable Invista 1000D Cordura Nylon - which is much more resistant to the usual wear, tear and stresses of high movement activity such as airsoft than your standard Nylon. One of the big positives for this material is that it is also water resistant and that no water will retain on its surface - making it a good option for wet skirmish days and MilSims as the water won't pool on the surface, infiltrate the materials and get weighed down with extra weight.

It is available in a fair few colour/camo options - olive drab, black, coyote, and ranger green, MultiCam, ATACS FG and ATACS AU. As well as colour options it also comes in 2 sizes - medium which fits 10" x 12" plates and large which takes 11" x 14" plates. It is worth mentioning that the soft armour plates are included. I opted for the medium size and although I would normally wear a small and admittedly I did think it looked a little huge when I got it out of the packaging, it does adjust. Due to my small waist, I always fair better with plate carriers without cummerbunds in regards to fit! Fortunately this vest has nothing except the quick release buckles so it is definitely smaller than some of the other tactical vests that I have tried. The quick release buckles pull right in, enough for the plate carrier to not move around when I'm running, bending and moving around. I do however think, that for someone with a smaller frame than my own it might be a little loose around the body and move around during high energy activity. This is definitely a plate carrier suited to those who have a medium to larger frames.

As I'm using this carrier as the base for the green team uniform I chose the olive drab colour option, as there is a wider range of pouches available that will colour match perfectly.

What about price? The Flyye Fast Attack Plate Carrier in olive drab is available from the Military 1st website for £80.95. It is worth mentioning that the camo options are more expensive - retailing for £125.95 but this is understandable as camo pattern material is more expensive than block colours. Honestly, I think £81 for a plate carrier with plates but without pouches is really reasonable, especially one that is made to military specifications. It has a large carrying capacity and is lightweight enough to be used for both your regular Sunday skirmishes and longer games without being uncomfortable.

FLYYE SWIFT PLATE CARRIER FROM MILITARY 1ST REVIEW!

So I’m back with another review! I’ve teamed up with Military 1^st to bring you guys a short series of affordable plate carrier set ups for both tan and green team uniforms and first on my list we are going to look/review the base carrier for my first build, the well-known Flyye Swift Plate Carrier in MultiCam.

The Flyye Swift Plate Carrier is an adjustable, lightweight and low profile plate carrier that has a similar look and functionality to the JPC plate carriers that have become really popular amongst airsofters. The plate carrier has a number of built in features including an integrated top admin pouch with a velcro closing and three elastic loops inside the pocket, the admin pouch is suitable for pistol mags, pens, chemlights and tonnes of other useful bits and bobs that you would need to carry on the field. It also has three integrated magazine pouches with loop velcro surface inside, elastic internal dividers and removable shock cords with pull tabs for retention which are suitable for both M4 and M16 magazines. At the top of the plate carrier just above the integrated mag pouches it has a loop Velcro panel for patches (so patchwhores, Flyye have you covered!).

As for its construction, it is made of genuine Crye Precision MultiCam Invista 1000D Cordura Nylon material making it extremely durable and water resistant for wet game days. Its laser-cut Hypalon shoulder straps are extremely durable and make for a closer and more comfortable fit. The stitching and general construction of the carrier is top quality. The carrier comes with two soft armour plates at the front and back included, and the plate compartments have velcro-secured flaps and pull tabs at the bottom making them easy to insert and remove. The plates are a little stiff at first due to their newness, but this is to be expected - after a few game days the plates become a little bit more malleable which means they sit better on the contours of your body.  It has rectangles of durable mesh at the inside top of the plate for ventilation and added comfort – this helps prevent the carrier getting too sweaty on game days. It has sturdy webbing throughout its construction for modular attachments. As it is a JPC style plate carrier it is super lightweight, weighing just over 1.2kg including the soft armour plates that are included, because of this I feel like it would be a really good piece of kit for a MilSim or a weekend event where you end up wearing your plate carrier for an extended period of time.

One of my favourite features of the Flyye Swift plate carrier is the cummerbund made of PALS webbing – the webbing is designed to help improve ventilation and provide extra carrying space for additional magazine pouches and radio pouches etc. I have found in the past that plate carriers with the PALS style of cummerbund have fit my body better than standard cummerbunds. It is easy to put on and adjust – simply pull the front of the vest up to reveal the Velcro fastening, which can be adjusted either at the front or via the cord on the back of the plate carrier. Due to the small size and adjustability of the carrier, I think it would be a great gear option for women and younger players. The only issue I had with its adjustability is that the shoulder straps fit really snug in their cover so it was a little bit of a mission to adjust them, especially with long nails!

I really like the simple aesthetics of the carrier, it’s sleek, low-profile and the integrated mag pouches give it a tidy look but because of the molle on the integrated mag pouches you can add extra pouches to add usability and of course beef it up. For a lightweight loadout I paired this with my cobra shooters belt – super effective and lightweight.  

What’s the retail price? The Flyye Swift plate carrier is available from Military 1st for £137.95 for the MultiCam option and it is available in a wide variety of camouflage patterns - MultiCam, black, coyote, A-TACS FG, ranger green, AOR1 and AOR2. It is worth noting that the price is dependent on the camo, some of the camo options are a little less expensive. It is available in sizes small, and all the way up to an extra-large with room for adjustment on all sizes of the carrier so the size range is really inclusive. In regards to price I would say that the Swift Plate Carrier is in the mid-price range, it definitely isn’t the cheapest plate carrier that you can get your hands on but as it’s made of genuine Crye Precision MultiCam you do have the peace of mind that the material it’s made of is durable and the construction is good quality meaning it will last you a good while! In fact knowing airsofters, you’d probably want a new loadout before you wear one of these out.

I’ll be using this carrier as the base of an affordable to mid-priced plate carrier set up which will be featured in a YouTube video on the Femme Fatale Airsoft YouTube channel so be sure to keep your eyes out for those which will be uploaded towards the end of the month!

TMC 'JUNGLE PLATE CARRIER' REVIEW!

Last month saw the opening of a new online Airsoft retailer called weapon762.com that stock a wide range of brands for Airsoft and an exclusive range of TMC sport gear, a brand from a Hong Kong based gear manufacturer, at an affordable price - reportedly the best price on the market. With over 2,000 products and 2-4 day shipping to the UK from their warehouse in Germany, could this online retailer provide UK Airsofter's with great deals and rival other well known and well loved brands? Here I take a look at the TMC 'Jungle Plate Carrier' or JPC 1.0 from their store.

So the Jungle Plate Carrier is a replica of the Crye Precision JPC or 'Jumpable Plate Carrier' but it's not just another cheap knock off - TMC use genuine US made MultiCam Cordura fabric but retails at a just under a quarter of the price.

The Jungle Plate Carrier is designed to be a lightweight and minimalist vest solution for maximum mobility. At just over one pound in weight for the entire plate carrier, even with the high density foam dummy plates included, the plate carrier focuses  on shedding unnecessary weight and bulk whilst improving mobility and ventilation for the operator. With an abundance of molle on the front and back of the JPC it allows the user to customise their JPC with pouches etc. It also features an integrated admin pouch and 3 magazine pouches on the front of the carrier just like the Crye JPC. 

It's straps are a light, rubber like material and it has a skeleton cummerbund that is fully adjustable meaning it fits a multitude of body shapes and sizes but if you fancy a change from the cummerbund, it does come with a replacement set of MultiCam fabric straps. In regards to the quality of the product I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the fabric - it has the same sort of feel of the MultiCam fabric that we know and love, the only noticeable difference that became apparent to me is that the the cummerbund is finished differently (and it is quite stiff due to being new). The fit was also a pleasant surprise, because it is so light and completely adjustable it the contours of my small lady frame well and was easy to wear all day so I would definitely recommend this JPC for Airsofters who want a lightweight, small platecarrier that doesn't cost the Earth! The plates aren't too flexible at first but they do flex up with some heat and movement.

I decided to keep mine lightweight for a skirmish day so only chose to add a couple of patches and my TRMR HLDR. As the JPC already has a set of 3 built in mag pouches this was plenty for a few 120 round midcaps for the games. I didn't use the integrated admin pouch but it had room for pens, maps etc which I think would be useful during a MilSim or themed skirmish. I would probably wear this JPC during a MilSim for STAG duties or for a medic role because it is so lightweight.

PLATE CARRIER UPDATES! FERRO CONCEPTS DANGLER POUCH & WAS QRSFASTEXSLING!

Hi everyone! So after my livestream I got loads of questions about how I'm getting on with the additions I recently made to my Plate Carrier so I've put together a 'First Impressions' blog post for you to let you know my thoughts, I will of course do a full review when I have run this kit for a good few skirmishes.

So the first addition is very minor but it is a really handy item, as you can see from the image above I have hooked a small caribiner through the molle on my PC to hang my gloves from when I'm not using them. This is a little trick I picked up from some of the accounts I follow on Instagram and it is really handy - having this little caribiner on my kit means that when I'm finished playing, my gloves and PC stay together (no more rooting around in the plano case!)

The next addition is the Warrior Assault Systems QRS Fastex Weapon sling in MultiCam from UK Tactical. It is a one point sling that is fed through the molle on the back of my PC and through the shoulder strap - I really like the aesthetics of it and the build quality is as always with Warrior gear, excellent. It is priced at £19.96 so it is one of the cheaper Warrior Slings but for my style of play it is certainly the most functional. What I love about this sling is that when I need to get my weapon out of the way to gain access to buildings through windows or to climb over walls/up embankments I can throw my weapon over my shoulder so it is resting on my back meaning I don't have to detach the weapon and leave it outside whilst I gain entry, so first impressions are very good!

The final addition is the Ferro Concepts THE DANGLER Drop Pouch in MultiCam from Tactical Kit, now admittedly I was hesitant about this piece of kit and refused to join the Dangler Pouch bandwagon hype for a while seeing this as a tactical bumbag (or fannypack for my American friends) but when one was brought for me as a present, I could hardly say no and I'm glad I didn't! These pouches retail at £39.99 so are on the expensive side as pouches go but they are pretty useful. I asked my friends who run these pouches what they use theirs for etc and the general consensus was for reusable grenade accessories and tools so I loaded mine up with my multitool, some primers and a Nuprol XL speedloader and away I went. The pouches are exceptionally useful and allow easy access to essentials without having to get a team mate to fetch them from my pack so it gets a thumbs up from me!

Warrior Assault Systems Recon Plate Carrier Shooters Cut Review!

Hey everyone! Here is a review you've been asking for, for a while - the Warrior Assault Systems Recon Plate Carrier in the Shooters Cut! You've seen it in my photos for the last few months of 2015 and have asked endless questions - I now feel like I know the product well enough to give you an indepth review!

I purchased the Warrior Recon Plate Carrier SC when my previous PCs fell short - a cheap eBay Job and then another cheap £20 jobby from Taiwan Gun (I know a lot of people rave about TG but that's just my experience!) After running with a new team for a fair few weeks who swore by this brand, I thought I'd check it out! My first thought was the expense, and their gear was a hell of a lot more expensive than what I was used to but after trying one of the lads Recon PCs and seeing how well it fitted, I decided to take the plunge and ordered the new Warrior Recon PC in the Shooters cut from UK Tactical, luckily they had a discount code of 20% so I ordered the Warrior Triple Open Mag Pouch and the Warrior Cargo Pack both in MultiCam to accessorize it. The order came to a total of £166.89 with next day delivery.


There were 3 things that I wanted from my new Plate Carrier: for it to be lightweight, low profile and completely adjustable to fit my small frame and the Recon delivered. The Recon Plate Carrier in the Shooters Cut is one of the latest evolutions of Plate Carriers from Warrior and is a lightweight, versatile and low profile alternative to some of their more classic styles such as the DCS. The PC has been designed to keep a ballistics plate in the front plate pocket and a SAPI plate in the back pocket. Both plate pockets however feature a backing of 3D mesh to help with the dispersal of body heat from the shooter and also improve ballistic performance. The PC comes standard with a non ballistic foam insert - perfect for Airsoft, it's a good thickness and gives a distinctive sound when a BB strikes it. The RPC features a ladder style cummerbund that still has MOLLE compatability. The PC itself is covered back and front with a MOLLE system and has a front velcro panel so you can easily swap pre configured weapon specific pouch set ups. As I said I chose to accessorize it with the Triple Open M4 Mag pouch set up and the Cargo pack on the back.

Before we get down to anything else, let's talk about the fit as that was the most important aspect of the carrier for me! The Recon PC is completely adjustable, from its cummerbund to its padded shoulder straps (with wrap arounds for comms and hydration channeling) it can be adjusted to any body shape - I ordered the medium which fits up to a 45" chest. The most important aspect for me is the adjustable waist, with previous plate carriers I have found they just don't tighten up enough for my small frame.

The ladder style cummerbund is attached to the RPCs front via two removable ITW SR clips and back via a velcro panel - this makes it super easy to adjust and it pulls in tight enough for my 26" waist. The shoulder straps allow for adjustment and although I'm not overly booby, it is nice to have a little extra wiggle room in the top with a tight waist. The fit gets a big thumbs up from me! I also love the shooters cut at the shoulders which makes it easier to shoulder your weapon. It's low profile design means it is slim, compact and lightweight, which is perfect for those like me who have a smaller frame.

What's the quality like? It's made from genuine Mil Spec materials and hardware making it durable, hard wearing and great value for money. I have owned this PC for around 6 months now and the foam inserts have held their shape incredibly well! I've fell in it, crawled in it, skidded along concrete floors in this, had pyro land on it and it has no scuffs, tears or any damage - it is filthy from the numerous skirmishes and MilSims it has had to endure but this takes away that new kit shine. I am seriously impressed with this particular PC.


For my Femme Fatale loadout, I run the RPC with the pre configured Warrior Assault Systems Triple
Open M4 Mag pouch, my FFA patch front and centre, a one point sling channeled through the straps alongside my Z-Tac PTT and my hydration system during MilSims and hot summer days. You will also see a tactical sharpie clipped onto the MOLLE of my mag pouches! My Warrior Cargo pack holds all the essentials I need on field from primers for my impact grenades, beebs, gas and disposable pyro. It has a pouch for my water bladder which keeps it separate to protect it. I also have a plastic Warrior Mag pouch on the back for team mates on MilSim ops. My RPC is minimal on accessories but it has everything I need on the field.
