GEAR | BATTLE OF THE TACTICAL FANNY POUCHES!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Whilst I was going through my kit last weekend when moving my office around (the office move around vlog is coming soon!) I came to realise just how many tactical fanny packs and drop pouches I have, so I thought it would be a cool post to compare them all! In this post, we're going to look at drop pouches from brands such as Ferro Concepts, Viper, Haley Strategic Partners and OPS.

First up, is the Ferro Concepts 'The Dangler' pouch, which is one of the OGs (it may be THE OG). I first purchased one of these in Multicam in 2016 and loved it so much that when I started building a Ranger Green kit I got one in RG too! (Although the RG pouch I found on eBay for £20! Barg!)

The Dangler drop pouch was designed by Ferro Concepts as a ‘fanny pack’ add-on to a plate carrier or chest rig. The pouch is designed to be lightweight, durable (made from Genuine Multicam fabric) and flexible tool organiser. It allows important tools/items to be carried in a convenient location. On the inside of the pouch there are a mix of 1.5" elastic and 3" loop lining to keep your tools/items secure when you are on the move. It also features a large Velcro square on the front so for patches.

The Dangler can be mounted either under the front flap and cummerbund or inserted into a plate pocket. I mount mine under the front flap and cummerbund on my plate carrier or between the backing velcro (I'm not sure what that bit is actually called, don't roast me!) on a chest rig.

At $48.50, it is one of the more expensive drop pouches on this list but it is made from genuine Multicam and made in the USA. At the current exchange rate (5/06/2020) that's £38.40 but remember  you will need to pay customs fees when it arrives in the UK. They're well constructed and have a good carrying capacity. This is my favourite drop pouch out of the bunch.

It's available in MC, MCB, RG, Black and Coyote.

Next up is the Viper SCROTE pouch, a tactical fanny-pack pouch Velcro attachment for plate carriers and chest rigs that has webbing straps on each side and a Velcro ID panel on the front for all of your favourite patches, the SCROTE pouch I have is one of the first version, the latest version of this pouch has been updated slightly (hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one when the 'Rona is gone). Inside the pouch, it has elasticated internal loop holders and a Velcro front internal pouch to keep all your bits and bobs safe during gameplay. It has a Viper firm draw zip puller to give the user more grip whilst unzipping/zipping the pouch closed especially when wearing gloves or when your hands are wet/cold.

It is available in a great range of colours including VCam, black, green, coyote and titanium so there is a colour to suit most loadouts. It is stocked at most Viper retailers in the UK and the best part? It retails for around £11! This is fantastic news for those who want the look of Gucci kit on a budget or have multiple loadouts to fill with pouches.

Next up, is the HSP Multi Mission Hanger, which is a drop down pouch to store tools that is lined with loop velcro to secure additional pouch organisers. What makes this pouch different to the previous two is the fact it can be fully opened and lay flat. It was designed to attach to the Velcro rear panel on the D3CR Chest Rig or under the front flap / cummerbund of many plate carriers. As I have this in RG I usually wear it with my MAS Grey LBX 0300S to expand its carrying capacity.

Whilst I do like this pouch, it isn't my favourite on the list. Whilst it has a huge carrying capacity and the fact you can stick organisers in it is really cool, the zip is quite hard to open in a hurry (it takes a few tugs and I've often opened the whole thing and then had to pick everything up) and without the organisers if the pouch opens fully, everything falls out. I think I'm definitely going to have to get some organisers for it.

In the UK the Coyote and Multicam variants are available from Tactical Clothing for £44.99, which is a little cheaper than other online retailers but they do not have all of the camos/colourways. The HSP website does, but again you'll be paying import taxes.

Last in the list is the OPS Modular Fanny Pocket from Hueys MTO. It can either be used as a drop pouch by attaching it under the front flap/cummerbund, it can be mounted on a belt as a fanny pocket or by adding 2 ITW Grimloc D-Rings it can be attached to any MOLLE platform. It has a cord zip puller which is really handy when you're wearing gloves or the weather is poor.

Inside the pouch, like the others it has elastic loops to organise tools and accessories. It has a good capacity and I really like the shape of this one - it sets it apart from the others.

It's available in ATACS iX, Multicam, Multicam Black and Multicam Tropic. It is also very reasonably priced!

FEMME FATALE AIRSOFT'S FAVOURITE GEAR 2019!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Following on from my last favourites post, today I'll be looking at my favourite bits of gear that I used in 2019! Now, this is a new addition to my yearly roundups, but let me clarify - these are MY personal favourite pieces of gear (yours probably will be different) that I used in 2019 -  meaning they may not be new or innovative but they are products that have elevated my kit.

First on the list is the HSGI Triple Taco Modular Panel, this panel has been modded for use with LBT/LBX Carriers. It has 3 adjustable M4 mag pockets and 3 adjustable accessory pockets that are perfect for pistol mags. It attaches to modular webbing via tuck tabs. I use this with my LBX 0300S and it has been a great addition to my kit - it has enough mag pouches for most airsoft skirmishes and the accessory pouches are multi-use. I've been using this for over a year, and it has stood up well to being used almost every weekend (depending on my game day loadout).

Haley Strategic Multi-Mission Hanger

Whilst I was at Land Warrior in Dalkeith, Scotland for their open day in May I realised I had forgotten my Ferro Concepts Dangler Pouch and borrowed a Multi-Mission Hanger V1 from the MD, Scott Alan. This tactical fanny pack is made from 500 Denier Cordura and features a 4-Way Stretch Tweave for additional room and ease of closing. It has loop Velcro front and rear interior panels and reversed zippers with cord zipper pulls. It is a really large fanny pack so it fits a great number of bits and bobs in and has a lot of room on the front for patches. It is really well constructed and the material has held up well.

The LBX Tactical Armatus II is a low profile plate carrier made of 500D Cordura. As standard, the carrier has a fast clip front panel and comes with a Triple M4 Panel from LBX and also a removable back modular panel that is compatible with MAP components (I’ve accessorised my MAS Grey Armatus II with the Banger Back Panel). It is a comfortable carrier that has sound construction and does the job intended. The range of colour/camo options is varied enough for there to be an option for most loadouts.

In 2019, Viper Tactical released their Gen 2 Elite Trousers which made huge improvements on the originals and boasted a bunch of new features, including improved removable ABS knee pads! These new Elite trousers are a dupe of a very popular style of trousers/pants but are super affordable.

The ripstop poly-cotton blend fabric feels really durable and has performed well in both indoor environments and outdoor skirmishes - from being caught on branches, dragged through the mud etc the material has held up really well. The stretch areas are all rip-resistant which definitely gives players peace of mind. The material also dries quite quickly which is much appreciated in the dreary British weather.

Viper has done an awesome job with these trousers. They fit well, are comfortable even in uncomfortable positions thanks to the stretch fabric, have ample storage, made of good quality material and have that high-end look at a fraction of the cost

In 2019, Viper also released the Buckle Up Utility Chest Rig as part of their new VX range, and what drew me to this product is that it closely resembles a high-end load carrying system - the Spiritus Systems MK4, but for a fraction of the cost. It works in a modular system with the VX range of inserts to suit your weapon magazines (if required) in the main pouch that is located at the rear of the rig to completely customise your rig to your playing needs. Both compartments are Velcro-lined to be used with these inserts too and the front lid is removable for easy access to inserts placed in the front compartment. It has front and rear Velcro ID panels that are quite sizeable meaning plenty of spaces for patches or adding extra VX inserts/holsters. It is also VX Buckle Up compatible meaning it can be used with the new VX plate carrier and has quick-release buckles throughout. It is also fully adjustable and compatible with other bits of kit.

SHOT SHOW 2018: HALEY STRATEGIC MICRO CHEST RIG!

Hey everyone!

Another post from SHOT Show 2018! In this post we're taking a quick look at the new Haley Strategic Partners Micro Chest Rig that caught my eye!

The new HSP Micro Chest Rig is reported to be hitting the market early March 2018! The permanent shell is comprised of 2 pistol mag carriers and an admin pouch, this is looking like it will cost around $130. The adaptable mag carriers (5.56,308/.762, MP5,MPX) seen behind the admin pouch can be inserted into the Chestrig and will be approximately $30 each. As always HSP know that colourways are important, the colourways for the new Mirco Chest Rig will reflect their popular colours that they already carry in the D3CR-X and D3CR-H chest rigs; Ranger Green, Coyote, Multi Cam, Black.

(In the image the new Micro Chest Rig is mounted to a Plate Carrier and has the multi-mission D3CR Hanger expansion, the Micro Chest Rig is sold separately to these)
