SHOT SHOW 2020 | LBX TACTICAL!

Hey guys!

Welcome back to the blog! You guys and girls will have seen my SHOT Show 2020 coverage on YouTube but for those of you who don't want to check out the new stuff from our favourite manufacturers on the 'Tube, we have a written report right here! In this write-up, we'll be looking at what's new from LBX!

As many of you know, for the last couple of years, I've been rocking the LBX Tactical 0300S and it has consistently been one of my favourites.  This system is based on the 6094 from LBT and was all MOLLE, LBX are now trying to move everything over to the MAP system and in turn, they will be offering the MAP system for the new 0300S. On the newest evolution of this plate carrier they've added a couple of extra loops to allow users to utilise some of the many panels available from LBX. We don't know whether these will come with the clips or if it'll be something you'll need to purchase separately. This new edition should be available by mid-2020 in all colours.  They also showed the 0300S in M81 Woodland for the first time, and all I can say is, I NEED IT!

Another product that caught my eye at SHOT Show 2020. The Armatus has been a staple for LBX for a couple of years, and at this years show there was an Armatus that had laser-cut MOLLE and more solutions for cable management and comms hooks. This Armatus also had a prototype panel attached that is exploring ways to carry more mags into the field. Most of the LBX panels have the capability of carrying just 3 mags so LBX went back to the drawing board to start designing the heavy. This panel is going to clip in at the front and velcro on the side and it gives users the ability to carry 8 mags between the sides and the top and the front pouch for pistol mags, phones, trauma kits etc. There's no solid date for this yet, but it's looking like it'll be available end of the year.

The MGP - Minimalist Gear Pack is getting a makeover! They're adding loops and clips so users can expand the carry capacity of this bag by adding the panels. It is also getting a velcro flap so the GRP panel can be used with the MGP too!

FEMME FATALE AIRSOFT'S FAVOURITE GEAR 2019!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Following on from my last favourites post, today I'll be looking at my favourite bits of gear that I used in 2019! Now, this is a new addition to my yearly roundups, but let me clarify - these are MY personal favourite pieces of gear (yours probably will be different) that I used in 2019 -  meaning they may not be new or innovative but they are products that have elevated my kit.

First on the list is the HSGI Triple Taco Modular Panel, this panel has been modded for use with LBT/LBX Carriers. It has 3 adjustable M4 mag pockets and 3 adjustable accessory pockets that are perfect for pistol mags. It attaches to modular webbing via tuck tabs. I use this with my LBX 0300S and it has been a great addition to my kit - it has enough mag pouches for most airsoft skirmishes and the accessory pouches are multi-use. I've been using this for over a year, and it has stood up well to being used almost every weekend (depending on my game day loadout).

Haley Strategic Multi-Mission Hanger

Whilst I was at Land Warrior in Dalkeith, Scotland for their open day in May I realised I had forgotten my Ferro Concepts Dangler Pouch and borrowed a Multi-Mission Hanger V1 from the MD, Scott Alan. This tactical fanny pack is made from 500 Denier Cordura and features a 4-Way Stretch Tweave for additional room and ease of closing. It has loop Velcro front and rear interior panels and reversed zippers with cord zipper pulls. It is a really large fanny pack so it fits a great number of bits and bobs in and has a lot of room on the front for patches. It is really well constructed and the material has held up well.

The LBX Tactical Armatus II is a low profile plate carrier made of 500D Cordura. As standard, the carrier has a fast clip front panel and comes with a Triple M4 Panel from LBX and also a removable back modular panel that is compatible with MAP components (I’ve accessorised my MAS Grey Armatus II with the Banger Back Panel). It is a comfortable carrier that has sound construction and does the job intended. The range of colour/camo options is varied enough for there to be an option for most loadouts.

In 2019, Viper Tactical released their Gen 2 Elite Trousers which made huge improvements on the originals and boasted a bunch of new features, including improved removable ABS knee pads! These new Elite trousers are a dupe of a very popular style of trousers/pants but are super affordable.

The ripstop poly-cotton blend fabric feels really durable and has performed well in both indoor environments and outdoor skirmishes - from being caught on branches, dragged through the mud etc the material has held up really well. The stretch areas are all rip-resistant which definitely gives players peace of mind. The material also dries quite quickly which is much appreciated in the dreary British weather.

Viper has done an awesome job with these trousers. They fit well, are comfortable even in uncomfortable positions thanks to the stretch fabric, have ample storage, made of good quality material and have that high-end look at a fraction of the cost

In 2019, Viper also released the Buckle Up Utility Chest Rig as part of their new VX range, and what drew me to this product is that it closely resembles a high-end load carrying system - the Spiritus Systems MK4, but for a fraction of the cost. It works in a modular system with the VX range of inserts to suit your weapon magazines (if required) in the main pouch that is located at the rear of the rig to completely customise your rig to your playing needs. Both compartments are Velcro-lined to be used with these inserts too and the front lid is removable for easy access to inserts placed in the front compartment. It has front and rear Velcro ID panels that are quite sizeable meaning plenty of spaces for patches or adding extra VX inserts/holsters. It is also VX Buckle Up compatible meaning it can be used with the new VX plate carrier and has quick-release buckles throughout. It is also fully adjustable and compatible with other bits of kit.

LBX TACTICAL | MINIMALIST GEAR PACK!

Welcome back to the blog!

Today I have another review for you - we’re going to be looking at the LBX Tactical Minimalist Gear Pack, a 24-hour ops pack from one of my favourite gear manufacturers!

Firstly, let’s talk about the features of the MGP. It is a small backpack designed for 24-hour ops, and is split into two sections - forward and the rear. The forward opens 3/4 of the way down the length of the bag and has an opening section lined with loop velcro for attachment of hook pouches/accessories, it has an elastic hydration port and the contents are secured with 2 heavy-duty zippers with paracord pull tabs. The rear compartment has a sleeve for a hydration bladder (up to 2L) w/ built-in hanger, a lower portion lined with loop velcro for attachment of hook pouches/accessories and a pass-thru between rear/forward for hydration tube. What I love the most about the MGP is its versatility - it’s roomy enough to be used in-game but also, lightweight and compact enough to use in everyday life without looking out of place. When being used for a game, the front compartment is roomy enough for a shit tonne of pyro, BBs, gas and speedloaders, whilst still having room in the rear to carry a full 2L hydration bladder - perfect for those longer ops! I have used this pack in my day to day life and although the camo colours can look out of place with the wrong outfit, the pack serves me well, especially as the rear section of the MGP is also PERFECT for stowing my MacBook Pro when I take it out and about.

The exterior of the pack also has some pretty cool features - it has 6x6 loop modular webbing, a zippered admin pocket that has loop velcro for identification patches, each side of the pack has modular webbing for accessory pouches, padded adjustable shoulder straps w/ adjustable sternum strap for comfort, the entire back of the pack is padded, w/ air channels to promote comfort, and it has drain grommets on rear and bottom to enable drainage should the pack get wet.

The Minimalist Gear Pack from LBX retails for $99.99 (which is around £78 at the current exchange rate - not including shipping and customs, be sure to take those into account when purchasing from overseas) and is available in MultiCam Tropic, MultiCam, MultiCam Arid, MultiCam Black, Ranger Green and MAS Grey. I chose MultiCam Tropic so I could run the pack with my MCT X MC loadout and so that it wouldn’t stand out too much should I use it for everyday wear. The LBX MGP is an awesome, little pack - my only regret is not getting it in more colours!

SHOT SHOW 2019 | LBX TACTICAL!

Hey everyone, and welcome back to the blog!

Today I have another post in the #SHOTShow2019 series, and in this one we're going to be looking at the releases for 2019 from one of my favourite gear manufacturers - LBX Tactical

This year from LBX Tactical we can expect great things! Whilst I was catching up with my main man Bo, I saw the new Armatus minimap - so the original minimap from LBX wasn’t meant for the Armatus system, but they've taken on the feedback from their customers and this one is and what is really cool about it is that players can stack their other panels on top of the new minimap thanks to the velcro attachments running along the pack. They’ve even made an adaptive velcro panel for those who don’t run an Armatus but want to run the back panels - Yaaaaaas!

One of the main themes for this year was panels! Panels, panels, panels. This year we will see a range of new panels for their Armatus plate carrier! With the popularity of the 9mm SMG such as the Vector and the ARP9, LBX have created an SMG panel to be released later this year, which has 5 x 9mm magazine pouches with bungee cord to keep them secure and it attaches via buckle clips and velcro.

We can also look forward to the new ‘stretch’ panel -  this stretchy piece of kit has 3 x AR magazine pouches that are made from the same stretch fabric that the Armatus stretch cummerbund is. The sample we saw at SHOT was literally hot off the sewing machine so we don’t have a release date or price as of yet but these details will be in ASAP.

Another prototype panel that was debuted at SHOT Show 2019 was the shotgun shell panel - each strip panel has 5 shell holders which are then attached to a full velcro panel meaning shooters can stack them up on the panel and have multiple shells on standby.

The new ‘admag’ however is the one that really caught my eye at the show and that I'm really looking forward to! The front admin pocket opens out to be able to carry medical equipment, navigation equipment, extra magazines (it already has some velcro loops for pistol mags) and it was discovered at SHOT that a magazine can be stored behind the admin panel, increasing the load it is able to comfortably carry.

All the panels will be available in a modular version - think most molle platforms.

LBX SMALL MODULAR PLATE CARRIER 0300S REVIEW!

Hey everyone!

Welcome back to the blog! Today I’m going to give you my thoughts on the MAS Grey 0300S Plate Carrier from LBX Tactical and go through what I’m running in my set-up. Whilst in the US last year, I had access to the Desert Unicorn armoury and when I was picking out my tactical gear for my very first Stateside airsoft game, I came across a Plate Carrier that was SO small I just had to try it on! The PC was the Small Modular Plate Carrier (0300S) from LBX Tactical in a prototype Caiman camo, a year later I have my very own in MAS Grey and I’ve put it through its paces!

LBX 0300S in MAS Grey with HSGI Triple Taco in Ranger Green

LBX are a really well-known brand in the US, but aren’t as well over the pond here in the UK! So who are they? LBX are a tactical kit brand named after their parent company - London Bridge Trading (or LBT), who is a Virginia based tactical kit manufacturer. LBX means London Bridge "X" and the X in the name stands for the unknown variable, which represents the numerous applications that their kit can be utilised for in the tactical world.

LBX 0300S in MAS Grey with Viper Modula Mag Rig in OD

We’re going to look at the ‘Small Modular Plate Carrier’ from LBX, or the 0300S as it is more commonly known in the airsoft community. The 0300S is the compact model of LBX’s popular Modular Plate Carrier. As the name suggests the carrier has 360 modular webbing, on the front panel, back panel, and the cummerbund so players can customise their carrier on all sides to their needs/preferences. The top rows of webbing on the front panel also have hook Velcro so you can show off your favourite patches.

Although it doesn’t come with plates as stock, the carrier can take 8x10 plates if players want to add a little bit of weight or help keep the shape when it isn’t in use. It features a heavy-duty drag handle which is probably more applicable in real-world application than airsoft but its there if you need to quickly drag your mates out of a firefight. It also has hydration/comms guides on the front and rear panels to keep hydration system and communication systems organised and of course to prevent any loose cables being snagged during use – after all, no one likes catching their lines on door handles!

Let’s talk about the fit! The 0300S is fully adjustable - the cummerbund is adjustable between 32" and 46", and as my waist is 29” it fits snuggly but still gives me enough room to wear the carrier over a softshell or hoodie as I would in the winter. As the cummerbund also has Velcro closure it can be securely fastened. The carrier also features adjustable shoulder straps which means the operator can adjust where it sits on the torso. Both shoulder straps have padded strap coverings which makes them comfortable to wear for long periods of time even when the carrier is loaded up. So we know it’s adjustable, but how does it fit? This is the main selling point for me! I’ve found very few plate carriers that can comfortably fit my small frame and contour my waist and chest but the 0300S does the job. As I’ve said, the cummerbund fits my waist pretty snug but still leaves me enough room to be worn over a light jacket or hoodie. The overall size looks/feels right on my torso and without plates, it fits the contours of my body.

The LBX 0300S comes in a fair few different colourways and camouflage patterns including MAS Grey, MultiCam, Coyote, Black and Wolf Grey. On the LBX website, it is available for $159.95, which works out at £114 to across the pond. It is worth mentioning however that us Brits do have to consider that shipping/customs charges are applicable when it reaches the UK.

My LBX MAS Grey 0300S is now my chosen flannel and green loadout plate carrier because it fits the contours of my body so well! I haven’t added plates to the carrier yet but I feel this will be something I undertaking this year, to keep the shape of the carrier when it isn’t in use. I have accessorised mine with the Triple HSGI Taco Modular Panel in Ranger Green from the LBX – the RG compliments the MAS Grey really well. The 3 x M4 mag pouches and 3 x pistol mag pouches are more than enough for a game of CQB, which is my airsoft poison of choice. The only thing left to find for my set-up is a suitable back panel! If you have any suggestions, put them in the comments below, I love discovering new kit!

Current set-up: LBX 0300S in MAS Grey with HSGI Triple Taco in Ranger Green

All in all, I am really impressed with the 0300S from LBX. From the range of colours/camo, it’s available in which is relatively extensive for a smaller-sized carrier, the MilSpec materials that make it a durable piece of kit and its overall size tick the boxes in regards to what I look for in a plate carrier. I’m also so happy to see tactical kit brands catering to smaller-framed players. I think the price is also really reasonable for the quality and fit. I would also be really keen to see the LBX brand and products more readily available in the UK!

PRE-SHOT SHOW RANGE DAY WITH MILSIM MEDIA & WHO SHOT FIRST!

Hey everyone!

So I made it to Las Vegas! This year is my first year attending SHOT Show, but before the show starts my good friends Omar and Castro were kind enough to take me to the range to get a little pre-SHOT Show trigger time in!

Over the course of the day I got to shoot a variety of firearms from sidearms to rifles including a Rock Island 1911 .45 ACP, Walther P99 .40, 9mm Glock 19, .45 Glock 27, 5.45 x 39 AK74, and a couple of AR15s including the 2017 SHOT Show Triton MFG/LBT rifle and here are a few images from the day!

As I'm from the UK - where our firearms laws are very strict, the chance to shoot firearms doesn't present itself very often, so when it does, you throw yourself in! I'm definitely more comfortable shooting rifles than I am shooting pistols but that will come with time, practice and exposure.
